Inspire is funded by the Regional Libraries
Advisory Group (sponsored by the BL, CILIP, MLA Council), and through
the DCMS Action Plan supporting Framework for the Future, the public
library strategy to 2013. It is a national programme to implement
a number of recommendations in the Empowering the Learning Community
(ELC) report
The ELC Report by the Library and Information Commission
and Education & Libraries Task Group sets out ways in which co-operation
between the education and public library sectors can be stimulated
and improved to support lifelong learning.
Inspire’s 2004 pilot projects
were funded by the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) in co-operation
with the Department of Culture Media and Sport (DCMS).
