News from the East of England
Autumn 2006
The September Steering Group confirmed plans for the following autumn events:
- Cornucopia workshop to be hosted by Luton Libraries
- "We'll Do It Together" a workshop day for registered staff to learn about other collections, both in the region and outside of it -there will be a presentation from East Midlands-and to come up with East of England policies, procedures, and future planning.
To support this event, MLA EoE, and project managers, Co-East will be developing publicity materials based on the national Inspire Find It! Materials. The workshop and publicity materials are grant funded from Inspire England.
Summer 2006
Inspire East of England held a series of well-attended Cornucopia workshops in Norfolk and Essex. Sally Curry provided the instruction for the workshops, which were such a success, that additional workshops will be scheduled in the autumn.
Spring 2006
After a successful recruitment drive at the beginning of 2006, the Inspire East of England Steering Group held an "in-service" day, to learn about Find It! and Cornucopia, as well as of the MK Inspire partnership. In addition, the group committed to holding a series of Cornucopia workshops in the summer, as well as creating a proposal for marketing funding, to be submitted to Inspire England.
Summer 2005
The regional launch of INSPIRE in the East of England was held in Bury St Edmunds on 15th July. Nearly 30 delegates attended the event. Sally Curry, INSPIRE England National Partnerships Manager, provided the background to the project, and gave details of the benefits of participation to users and libraries and the staff working in them. Sally also explained INSPIRE's "kitemark" criteria which all libraries sign up to when they register with the scheme. Participants also heard from two speakers, Rachel Speake and Fiona O'Brien, who described existing initiatives in Coventry and London.
